Careers Afloat
Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) currently operates and crews approximately 50 U.S. flag vessels, including both MLL commercial fleet and government-owned ships. We offer diverse maritime careers aboard the most sophisticated vessels in the world, ranging from 250-foot oceanographic-type vessels to new 958-foot 4,300-TEU container vessels and roll-on/roll-off vessels. As the largest owner/operator of U.S. flag vessels, we have earned a reputation for maritime excellence by staffing our vessels with talented professionals. MLL supports professional growth for ambitious mariners by encouraging promotion from within. We continue to grow our fleet, creating a constant need for first-class deck and engineering officers and rated mariners.
Application Process
If you are interested in a career afloat with MLL, you must be a U.S citizen and apply directly through the appropriate Unions. Deck and engineering officers aboard our Government contract vessels, tankers, multi-purpose vessels, and some container vessels are crewed through American Maritime Officers (AMO). Deck and engineering officers aboard our Roll-on/Roll-off vessels and many of our container ships are crewed through International Organization of Masters, Mates and Pilots (MMP), and Marine Engineers’ Beneficial Association (MEBA). All unlicensed positions are crewed through Seafarers International Union (SIU). Your application for available positions through the unions mentioned above does not guarantee an assignment with MLL, because the unions are responsible for matching individuals with ship missions. Candidates for ships’ officers must be U.S. citizens and have unlimited licenses. Only applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be considered.
If you are interested in becoming a merchant mariner, please visit the National Maritime Center section of the United States Coast Guard’s website at http://www.uscg.mil/nmc.
Crew Positions
We are always interested in recruiting seagoing staff for the positions listed below. We encourage qualified individuals to contact the unions to check on the status of these positions.
